From Humble Beginnings to Automotive Excellence –
The Origin
Pavel immigrated from Ukraine in April 1990. With extensive experience in the re-upholstery business, as a toolmaker technician in a semiconductor factory, and as an air jet and plane mechanic in the air force, Pavel founded Soft N’ Cushy Auto Upholstery and Accessories in April 1992. What began as a small, one-bay shop renting a space at 1731 State Street has grown significantly over the years.
Growth & Expansion
In 2004, we purchased the very building we once rented, undertaking extensive renovations. We demolished a run-down bar attached to the property to create a 17-car parking area, paved the lot, and installed perimeter fencing. The building’s exterior and interior were redesigned with technology and growth in mind. Today, Soft N’ Cushy occupies a 6,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility complete with a large retail area and a car audio sound room.

Unveiling Our New Company – Spray Bedliner Upstate NY
To streamline our operations, we have decided to separate Soft N’ Cushy Auto Upholstery and Accessories from our spray bedliners, undercoating, and rustproofing services. With the same customer base and years of experience, we are committed to maintaining the high standards of Soft N’ Cushy Auto Upholstery & Accessories.
As our business continued to grow, we outgrew our 6,000-square-foot space. In 2016, we purchased a 25,000-square-foot facility, the former Revier Line Bowling Alley at 1752 State Street, Schenectady, NY 12304, just a short walk from Soft N’ Cushy Auto and transformed it into another company Spray Bedliner Upstate NY specializing in ultimate Spray Bedliners, Undercoating, and Rustproofing for vehicles serving entire Upstate New York. Equipped with brand-new Graco spraying equipment, we can prep and spray two one-ton long-bed trucks simultaneously. Additionally, we use the Lemmer airless system for rustproofing, utilizing a 55-gallon drum and a fogger system to ensure thorough coverage in hard-to-reach areas.
Our facility features two lifts:
- A 9,000-pound, four-post lift for smaller cars, SUVs, and half-ton trucks
- A 35,000-pound, four-post lift for larger vehicles like dump trucks and utility trucks
